Connect the document to the batch before interpreting the result.
Identify what the document covers.
A certificate of analysis is meaningful only when it can be connected to a defined material and batch. Check the product identity, batch identifier, issuing organization and document date. A familiar product name alone does not establish that the document belongs to the material being offered.
Read methods with results.
A percentage without a stated analytical basis is incomplete information. Review which attributes were tested, how results are expressed and which acceptance criteria apply. A document can report one attribute without making a claim about another.
Resolve gaps before agreement.
If a document omits a required attribute or uses an unclear identity, ask for clarification. Keep the document version connected to the approved specification. The website’s lookup is an entry point to published records; it does not replace the receiving organization’s review.
Questions to carry into the enquiry
- Which exact material and form are being requested?
- Which documents support the attributes that matter to this project?
- What remains to be confirmed before a quotation is approved?
