Research grade is a use-context label, not a universal analytical specification.
Start with the intended use.
Research-grade peptides are materials presented for research rather than clinical use. The phrase does not establish one universal purity threshold, a particular analytical package or suitability for every research question. Read it alongside the material specification and the supplier’s stated scope.
Separate the claims.
Identity, purity, content and formulation are distinct attributes. A label may indicate a broad product category while leaving the exact form or tested attributes to the batch documentation. A receiving laboratory should define which attributes matter to its project and request the corresponding evidence.
Make the enquiry specific.
A useful enquiry names the material, the requested format, the quantity and the documentation needed for evaluation. It also identifies the receiving organization and destination. That information supports a more meaningful quotation than an unqualified request for “research grade.”
Questions to carry into the enquiry
- Which exact material and form are being requested?
- Which documents support the attributes that matter to this project?
- What remains to be confirmed before a quotation is approved?
